About Josie

Hi, I’m Josie Beard—wife, mother, homemaker, entrepreneur, creator, and someone who believes there is something pretty special about slowing down and making the most of what you have.

For years, my husband, Eric, and I have built our life around the things that matter most to us: family, hospitality, self-sufficiency, creativity, and helping others. What started as a dream of creating a simpler, more meaningful way of life eventually became Beard Homestead—our little piece of the world where we could grow, create, share, and welcome others.

I’ve always loved the idea of taking something ordinary and turning it into something special. Whether it’s cooking from scratch, preserving something from the garden, creating something beautiful, caring for our home, sharing a good meal, or simply making someone feel welcome, I find joy in the little things.

That passion eventually grew into Soul Sister From Scratch, where my love for homemade goods, baking, canning, wellness, and natural living came together. Since 2012, I’ve also shared my passion for essential oils and wellness through doTERRA, helping others discover simple ways to incorporate natural products into their everyday lives.

But more than any business, project, or title, I’m a wife and a mom who loves her family deeply. My family has shaped who I am, and the experiences we’ve shared—both the beautiful moments and the difficult ones—have taught me to appreciate every season of life.

I believe life doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.

Sometimes it’s a garden that didn't grow exactly the way you planned. Sometimes it's a homemade meal shared around the table. Sometimes it's sitting around a fire with friends, laughing until your sides hurt. Sometimes it's opening your home to a stranger who leaves feeling like family.

Those are the moments I treasure.
